About

Avintaquin Campground is located atop scenic Indian Canyon at 9,000 feet elevation, just off Highway 191 between Duchesne and Helper. The campground is situated among towering Douglas fir trees and provides an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area's scenic beauty and wildlife viewing opportunities. The campground is accessed via Reservation Ridge Scenic Backway, a dirt road open to off-road vehicles, mountain biking, and hiking that offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. Additional hiking trails are available in the area, and Avintaquin Creek along with numerous springs provide water features nearby. The area is home to mule deer and elk, making wildlife viewing a popular activity. Hunting is also popular in the area during appropriate seasons. The campground contains several single-family sites, each equipped with a picnic table, campfire ring, and utility table. One group site is available that can accommodate up to 50 people with several picnic tables, a campfire ring, grills, utility tables, and parking for 10 vehicles. Vault toilets and trash collection are provided, but there is no running water, so campers must bring their own supply.
