About

Aspen Grove campground is located within Curt Gowdy State Park, situated in the scenic foothills of the Laramie Mountains along Happy Jack Road between Cheyenne and Laramie, Wyoming. The campground's defining feature is its location adjacent to a free public horse corral, making it the preferred destination for equestrian campers visiting the park. Curt Gowdy State Park encompasses seven sections of varied landscape across approximately 3,395 acres, featuring low-lying meadows, rolling hills, and impressive granite formations. The park contains three reservoirs: Granite Reservoir offers excellent rainbow trout and kokanee salmon fishing along with water sports; Crystal Reservoir provides shoreline fishing with a 15-horsepower motor limit; and North Crow Reservoir serves as an unimproved day-use fishing area. The park features extensive recreational opportunities including mountain biking trails, hiking paths, an archery range, and wildlife viewing. The historic Hynds Lodge, listed on the National Register, and an amphitheater host concerts and cultural events throughout the summer. Winter activities include skiing, snowshoeing, and ice fishing. The park's convenient location near I-80 and I-25 makes it easily accessible for both regional visitors and travelers passing through Wyoming.
