About

Davidsonville Historic State Park sits on the former townsite of Davidsonville, once a thriving frontier settlement established in 1815 that served as Arkansas's first post office and land office location. The park preserves this significant piece of early Arkansas history while offering modern camping facilities along the scenic Black River in Randolph County. The campground provides 24 campsites to accommodate various camping styles. Eleven Class AAA sites feature full hookups including water, 50-amp electric, and sewer connections for RV camping. Eight Class A sites offer water and 50-amp electric hookups, while five Class D primitive sites cater to tent campers seeking a more rustic experience. All campers have access to restrooms that remain open year-round. Fishing is the primary draw here, with the park bordering the Black River and maintaining its own fishing lake (Trapper Lake). Jon boats are available for rent. Several trails wind through the park including the Black River Trail, Historic Townsite Trail, Scott Cemetery Trail, and Trapper Lake Trail. The visitor center houses a replica flatboat and offers an audio tour exploring the region's frontier history.
