About

Archie Knowles Campground offers a peaceful forest camping experience in Oregon's Coast Range. The nine developed sites are tucked among massive Douglas fir and Sitka spruce trees, with dense huckleberry providing natural privacy between sites. Knowles Creek runs right beside the campground, offering a soothing backdrop and opportunities for fishing and wading. The campground provides basic but comfortable amenities including potable well water, a flush toilet restroom, and each site comes equipped with a picnic table and fire pit. An on-site caretaker helps maintain the grounds. While the setting is rustic, the location just off Highway 126 makes access easy while still feeling removed from the bustle of traffic. This is an ideal base for exploring the Siuslaw River watershed and the nearby Oregon coast. Florence and its beaches are about 30 minutes west, while the town of Mapleton is just 4 miles away for basic supplies.

Directions

From Eugene, travel west on Highway 126 for approximately 50 miles. The campground is located about 4 miles east of Mapleton, directly adjacent to Highway 126 on the south side of the road.
