About
Horse Creek Campground is an equestrian-focused facility in Siuslaw National Forest, located about 15 miles from Florence, Oregon. The campground serves as a base for exploring the Cape Mountain Trail system on horseback. With 12 total sites (10 equestrian and 2 shelter sites), it provides a quiet, low-use destination for horse camping enthusiasts. All sites are non-electric and feature corrals for horses. A horse trough is available along the trail, though it may dry out during late summer months. There is no potable water on site, so campers must bring their own drinking water. Vault toilets are provided, but trash service is not available; all trash must be packed out. This campground is specifically designed for visitors with horses, and the Forest Service asks that campers without horses consider alternative campgrounds. Weed-free certified feed is mandatory for all livestock. The access road (Forest Road 789) has not been recently maintained and may not be suitable for trailers or large campers. There is no cell phone service at the campground.
Directions
From Florence, Oregon, travel north 10.5 miles on Highway 101. Turn east (right) onto Forest Road 58 (Horse Creek Road) and travel 4.7 miles.
