About

Dry Lake Horse Camp is a primitive equestrian campground situated along the Cape Mountain Trails in Siuslaw National Forest, approximately 8 miles from Florence, Oregon. The camp is specifically designed for horseback riders needing facilities to corral their animals while accessing the trail system, which includes the Princess Tasha and Nelson Ridge Trails. The campground offers basic amenities including vault toilets and limited horse corral facilities. There is no potable water available, so campers must bring their own water supply. Trash service is not provided and all refuse must be packed out. No fees are charged for camping. No overnight vehicle camping is permitted at this location, and Forest Road 789 has not been maintained recently, making it potentially unsuitable for trailers or large vehicles. The Forest Service requests that sites be reserved for those with horses only. Weed-free feed is required for all horses to prevent the spread of invasive species.
