About
Carl G. Washburne Memorial State Park sits nestled in coastal forest along Highway 101, offering one of the Oregon Coast's premier camping experiences. The campground features 66 total sites spread across two loops. Loop A contains most of the hookup sites, with 19 full hookup sites (water, electric, sewer) and additional electric/water sites, accommodating RVs up to 53 feet. Loop B offers tent camping and is partially affected by ongoing road repairs. The park includes 18 walk-in tent sites, two reservable yurts, and one ADA-accessible site. All campers have access to flush toilets, hot showers, and potable water. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with firewood available for purchase. A dump station serves RV campers. The campground operates year-round on a first-come, first-served basis, though the two yurts require advance reservations through the Oregon State Parks system. The park's location provides excellent coastal access, with trails leading from the campground to expansive beaches and connecting to the Hobbit Trail and Heceta Head Lighthouse area. The forested setting offers some buffer from Highway 101, with sites along China Creek providing particularly scenic settings. This is a popular base camp for exploring the central Oregon Coast while enjoying full amenities.
