Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park is the second largest overnight campground in the Oregon State Parks system, situated on the central Oregon coast three miles south of Florence. The park encompasses over 350 campsites spread across multiple loops, offering a variety of camping options from full hookup RV sites to primitive tent camping. The campground features 47 full hookup sites with electricity, water, and sewer, plus 120 sites with electric and water hookups, and over 185 tent sites with nearby water access. The park is centered around two natural freshwater lakes: Cleawox Lake, popular for swimming with its sandy beach, and the larger Woahink Lake, which offers a boat ramp for water sports. A distinctive feature is the park's proximity to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, with two miles of sand dunes separating the campground from the Pacific Ocean. Trails and ATV access points connect campers to these impressive coastal dunes. Originally developed with assistance from the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, the park has evolved into a full-service camping destination while maintaining its natural character. Modern amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, a dump station, and a large playground. The park also offers yurts and group camping areas for those seeking alternative accommodations. Open year-round and pet-friendly, Honeyman State Park serves as an excellent basecamp for exploring the central Oregon coast, with activities ranging from sandboarding and ATV riding in the dunes to fishing, swimming, and hiking around the lakes.
