About

Located 12 miles north of Marshall in Saline County, Annie and Abel Van Meter State Park preserves the site of a historic Missouria Indian village at the Great Bend of the Missouri River. The campground provides both basic and electric campsites, including 50-amp service options, with standard amenities including parking pads, picnic tables, grills, and lantern posts. The park's 300-acre Oumessourit Natural Area contains freshwater marshes, fens, and forests accessible via hiking trails and a wetland boardwalk. Missouri's American Indian Cultural Center offers exhibits and programs about the region's indigenous history. The 18-acre Lake Wooldridge provides fishing opportunities, and two CCC-era picnic shelters built in the 1930s are available for reservation. Modern restrooms and a showerhouse are available seasonally from mid-April through October, with reduced services during the off-season. The park has a wood lot for campers. No dump station exists on-site, but one is available in nearby Marshall.
