About

Bothwell Lodge Shelters is a reservable day-use picnic shelter located within Bothwell Lodge State Historic Site, preserving the 31-room, 12,000-square-foot summer home of Sedalia attorney John Homer Bothwell. The shelter provides a scenic gathering space for groups of 55 to 75 people and includes picnic tables, a group grill, and a nearby accessible playground. The facility is fully accessible with a paved pathway from handicap parking to the shelter, an accessible water fountain, and a single-toilet unisex restroom with side-transfer toilet and lever-handled faucets. The shelter itself does not have water or electricity. Visitors can also explore the Stonyridge Trail and Radiant Trail, which meander through wooded slopes past stone gazebos and rock formations. This is a day-use only facility and does not offer overnight camping. The grounds are open year-round from 8 a.m. to sunset. Reservations can be made online through the Missouri State Parks reservation system 30 days to 12 months in advance, or by contacting the park directly at 660-827-0510 for dates within 30 days.
