About
Alder Springs Campground is a small, primitive campground located on the historic McKenzie Pass Highway (OR 242) within Willamette National Forest. The site sits beneath towering Douglas fir trees, providing natural shade on warm summer days. Directly across the highway lies the Linton Lake Trailhead, offering immediate access to the Three Sisters Wilderness. This is a tent-only campground operating on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Facilities are minimal: vault toilets and picnic tables are provided, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. Dogs are allowed but must remain on leash at all times. Access depends entirely on Highway 242, which closes seasonally due to snow. The road typically opens on the third Monday of June and closes in early November. The campground operates June through October when the highway is accessible.
