About
Midway Park is a well-developed Corps of Engineers campground situated on the southeast shore of Waco Lake, a 79,000 acre-foot reservoir that provides drinking water and irrigation to the Waco area. The park offers 37 campsites ranging from primitive tent spots to full-hookup RV sites, all in a shaded setting with direct lake access. The campground accepts big rigs up to 90 feet and features 6 pull-through sites alongside spacious back-in options. Facilities include modern bathhouses with hot showers and flush toilets, a dump station, fire rings, picnic tables, and separate cooking grills. A boat ramp and dock provide easy lake access for anglers targeting the catfish, crappie, largemouth and smallmouth bass, and sunfish that congregate around the lake's submerged timber structure. An accessible playground makes this a good option for families. Despite being within Waco city limits, Midway Park maintains a natural lakeside atmosphere. The campground is approximately 10 miles from Magnolia Market and 15 minutes from Waco Lake Wetlands, which offers educational tours through aquatic plant nurseries and habitat for over 130 bird species. Cameron Park Zoo is also nearby.
Directions
From I-35, take exit 330B for Highway 6 North toward Meridian. Continue about 5 miles. Immediately before crossing the lake, exit right at Midway Park Exit. At the exit, drive under the bridge; the park is a quarter-mile down the eastbound service road.
