Speegleville Park

Open — Open year-round with reservations available through Recreation.gov. Park gates lock at 10 PM and reopen at 6 AM. Limited to 14 consecutive days in any 30-day period.

About

Speegleville Park is an Army Corps of Engineers campground perched on the south end of a scenic cove of Waco Lake in central Texas. The facility features 30 campsites with water and electric hookups along with two screened overnight shelters. A four-lane boat ramp provides excellent access to the 79,000 acre-foot lake. The lake's shoreline contains abundant submerged timber that holds fish year-round. Anglers can expect to catch catfish, crappie, large and smallmouth bass, and sunfish among the 51 species inhabiting the waters. A record flathead catfish from the lake weighed 59.5 pounds. The park supports boating, jet skiing, fishing, swimming, and bird watching. The campground operates under standard Corps regulations including a 14-day maximum stay in any 30-day period across all Waco Lake project campgrounds. Park gates lock at 10 PM and reopen at 6 AM, with a night exit available for departures but no vehicle entry during closed hours. The nearby 20-mile Lacy Point Hiking and Biking Trail is accessible from Lacy Point boat ramp, a short drive around the cove. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov.

Directions

From I-35, take exit 330B Highway 6 North toward Meridian for about 6 miles. After passing over the lake on the Twin Bridges, take the first exit toward Lake Waco/Speegleville Park. Take a left on the access road. Continue past Twin Bridges Park about a quarter mile until you reach Overflow Road. Turn right on Overflow Road and drive for about 1.5 miles until you reach the entrance on the left.
