About
Afton Landing sits approximately 6 miles west of Wagoner, Oklahoma, on a scenic oxbow of the Arkansas River upstream from Chouteau Lock and Dam 17. The campground operates year-round with two loops (AL-East and AL-West) containing 19 electric sites and 3 non-electric sites. The mixed hardwood forest provides welcome shade, and sloping high banks allow campers to tie boats at the water's edge. The location excels for water-based recreation. The oxbow's calm backwaters attract fishermen targeting the area's diverse fish populations, while boaters and kayakers appreciate the protected launch conditions and access to the main navigation channel. A boat ramp and courtesy dock facilitate water access. Facilities include vault toilets, potable drinking water, a dump station, and a playground. Electric sites feature 30-amp service with water hookups. Most sites include picnic tables, fire pits, and grills. The campground is reservation-only through Recreation.gov with 5:00 PM check-in and 3:00 PM checkout.
