About

Flat Rock Creek campground sits on the east shore of Flat Rock Bay at Fort Gibson Lake in northeastern Oklahoma, operated by the Army Corps of Engineers. Despite being off the beaten path, this seasonal campground maintains a strong and loyal following among campers who appreciate its remote location and family-friendly atmosphere. The park offers spectacular sunset views over the water and a protected shallow cove perfect for kayaks and canoes. The campground features 30 family campsites with 30-amp electric hookups, one group day-use picnic shelter with electric, and one primitive site without hookups available on a first-come, first-served basis. Amenities include flush and pit toilets, drinking water, hot showers, a dump station, and a boat ramp. Park gates are locked from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., with entrance booth hours from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fort Gibson Lake spans nearly 20,000 acres and provides excellent boating, swimming, and fishing opportunities. Anglers target black bass, white bass, crappie, and various catfish and panfish species. The lake's 225 miles of shoreline encompass thousands of acres of public hunting lands where white-tailed deer, turkey, mourning dove, waterfowl, cottontail rabbit, and squirrel can be found. The surrounding landscape features oak-hickory woodlands covering rolling hills. Nearby Chouteau offers Amish culture and dining, while historic Fort Gibson, established in 1824 and now a National Historic Landmark, is open to visitors year-round.
