...SNOW AND WINTRY MIX FOR THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY... .This set of Winter Weather Advisories has been issued due to concerns for mixed precipitation types given the recent colder weather and subsequently cold road temperatures. Do not expect significant or major accumulations amounts of ice and/or snow. Rain or wet snow falling on frozen surfaces can easily become very slick and exacerbated by compaction and/or frictional heating from tires on roadways. * WHAT...Snow expected. There is a likelihood of minor to moderate winter weather impacts. Total snow accumulations up to three inches, up to five inches at Lost Trail Pass. Mixed precipitation possible with ice accumulations up to one-tenth of an inch. * WHERE...Shoup, Highway 93 Lost Trail Pass to Gibbonsville, Bannock Pass, Lemhi Pass, Highway 28 Tendoy to Lone Pine, Salmon, and Williams Creek Summit. * WHEN...Until noon MST Friday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes, especially over higher passes.

About

Twin Creek Group Camping Site is part of the larger Twin Creek Campground complex, located 15 miles north of North Fork, Idaho in the Salmon-Challis National Forest. Situated at an elevation of 5,100 feet along Twin Creek near its confluence with the North Fork of the Salmon River, the site is surrounded by large pine trees and brush that provide ample shade and privacy. The group site accommodates up to 35 individuals and features extensive amenities including a large parking area for multiple vehicles and trailers, double vault toilets, drinking water from a hand pump, four picnic tables (two extra-long), a large fire ring, multiple barbecue pedestals, a large barbecue pit, a historic pavilion with picnic table and benches, and two horseshoe pits. There are no electric, water, or sewer hookups available. Recreational opportunities abound in this corner of the Salmon-Challis National Forest. Fishing is available in both the North Fork of the Salmon River and Twin Creek. Hikers can access trails #6108 and #6109 located directly behind the campground. Berry picking can be excellent during certain times of year. Highway 93, which runs near the campground, contains portions of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail, offering a connection to the area's rich history.

Directions

From North Fork, Idaho, travel 15 miles north on US 93, turn left on Forest Road 156 and travel 0.5 miles. Turn left into the Group Camping Site. From Lost Trail Pass, travel 8.5 miles south on US 93, turn right on Forest Road 156, travel 0.5 miles and turn left into the Group Camping Site.
