There is a likelihood of minor to moderate winter weather impacts. Total snow accumulations up to two inches and ice accumulations up to five-hundredths of an inch. * WHERE...Highway 12 Lowell to Lolo Pass, Elk City, and Dixie. * WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 11 AM PST Friday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes, especially over higher passes.

About

O'Hara Saddle Campground is a primitive camping area located at 5,220 feet elevation on an open ridge top at the edge of a meadow in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. The campground provides two camp pads with fire rings, making it an ideal overnight spot for OHV enthusiasts exploring the Highway 14 Corridor area near Elk City, Idaho. This is a true dispersed camping experience with no amenities. There are no toilets, no potable water, and no trash services, so visitors must be self-sufficient and pack out all waste. The campground is free and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. The site is particularly popular with hunters during big game season, who use it as a base camp for accessing the surrounding national forest. The location along Erickson Ridge Road provides good access for off-highway vehicles. While the campground is technically open year-round, winter access may be limited or impossible due to snow at this elevation.

Directions

Traveling east on Highway 14 into Elk City, turn left on Sweeney Hill Road at the convenience store and Laundromat, cross the bridge over Elk Creek and stay right at the next junction. Proceed approximately one mile to the Y junction and turn left on Erickson Ridge Road #283. Continue to the junction with Road #464. The campground is directly across the road.
