About

Nestled at 5,220 feet elevation in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests, Table Meadows Campground serves as a base camp for horseback riders and big game hunters exploring Idaho's backcountry. The campground offers six primitive camp pads designed to accommodate stock users, complete with two stock feeding bunks, a loading ramp, and hitching rail. The West Fork of the American River flows through the property, providing a water source that must be treated or filtered before use. This is a true backcountry experience with no fees and minimal amenities. Two vault toilets are provided, but there is no potable water, trash service, or picnic tables. Visitors must practice Leave No Trace principles and pack out everything they bring in. Located along Erickson Ridge Road approximately 6-7 miles from Elk City, the campground provides excellent access to surrounding trails and hunting areas in the Highway 14 Corridor region of the national forest.

Directions

Traveling east on Highway 14 into Elk City, turn left on Sweeney Hill Road at the convenience store and laundromat. Cross the bridge over Elk Creek and stay right at the next junction. Travel along open meadows for 2-3 miles. At the T intersection about 4 miles from Elk City, stay left. Proceed approximately one mile to the Y junction and turn left on Erickson Ridge Road (Forest Road 283). Continue for approximately 6-6.5 miles to the campground on the right.
