About

Located approximately 2.2 miles north of State Highway 14 via Newsome Creek Road, Oxbow Campsite provides a single, primitive camping spot on the bank of Newsome Creek in the Highway 14 Corridor of the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. This solitary site is particularly popular with anglers looking to fish Newsome Creek in a peaceful, remote setting. The campsite is equipped with a camp pad and a vault toilet, offering basic amenities for self-sufficient campers. While the area to the east is closed to motor vehicles year-round for resource protection, the existing roads in this closure area make for excellent mountain biking terrain. The surrounding forest provides opportunities for wildlife viewing and experiencing the quiet beauty of north-central Idaho's backcountry. This is a first-come, first-served site with no reservation system. Visitors should be prepared for primitive conditions and pack out all trash. The area is accessible via forest roads that may be impassable during winter months due to snow.
