About
Mallard Creek Campground is a remote, primitive camping destination located in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests along Highway 14 Corridor. The campground features four campsites situated in tall timber near Mallard Creek, providing a secluded forest experience. Facilities are minimal by design, with a vault toilet and only one fire grate available, and no picnic tables provided. Potable water is not available on-site, so campers must bring their own or treat water from nearby sources.
This is a pack-in, pack-out facility with no garbage services, emphasizing Leave No Trace principles. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system and no fees required. Access requires traveling forest roads including Red River-Dixie Road #222, Road #1190, and Road #421 for approximately 6 miles from the junction. The remote location and basic amenities make this campground ideal for experienced campers seeking solitude and a more rustic camping experience in the Idaho wilderness.
