This intimate campground offers three campsites, each equipped with tables and fire rings. The site serves as a popular trailhead for accessing the Gospel Hump Wilderness Area via Crooked Creek Trail #215. Stock facilities are available nearby, including a feed bunk and loading ramp, making this an ideal staging area for horse packers and wilderness travelers. The campground's remote location along Forest Road #311A provides a quiet, forested setting perfect for those seeking a launching point into the backcountry. As a free, first-come, first-served site open year-round, Halfway House offers basic amenities including vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings. No potable water is available, so visitors must treat or filter water from nearby sources. The site operates on a pack-it-in, pack-it-out basis with no garbage services provided.

Directions

From State Highway 14, turn south onto the Red River-Dixie Road #222. Follow Road #222 past Dixie Town approximately five miles to Forest Road #311A. Turn onto Road #311A and continue approximately 1.5 miles to the campground.
