About

Jim Creek Group Campground provides a peaceful, secluded setting for group camping in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. Nestled in an old-growth Douglas-fir forest adjacent to Abbott Creek, a tributary to the Rogue River, this campground accommodates groups of up to 40 people. The setting includes a small sandy beach area and is ideal for family reunions and school outings. The campground is accessed via a locked gate behind Forest Road 6470.100. Groups must pick up a key from the Prospect Ranger District before arrival. The site includes picnic tables and fire pits but provides no drinking water or garbage disposal, so visitors must bring their own water and pack out all trash. A vault toilet is available on-site. Recreational opportunities abound in the area. The nearby Woodruff Bridge picnic area provides access to the Upper Rogue River Trail, which parallels the Rogue River for about 47 miles from near Crater Lake National Park to the North Fork Dam outside Prospect. A managed OHV trail system with two play areas is located within a few minutes' drive. The campground is approximately 8.5 miles from the Prospect Ranger Station and positioned for easy access to Crater Lake National Park and the Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway.

Directions

From Prospect, travel north on Highway 62 for approximately 6 miles. Turn left on Forest Road 68 for approximately 2 miles. Immediately after crossing the Rogue River, turn left on Forest Road 64 for approximately 0.5 mile. Turn right on Forest Road 6470 for approximately 0.1 mile. Turn right into Jim Creek Group Campsite (Forest Road 6470.100, behind locked gate). The site is approximately 8.5 miles from the Prospect Ranger Station. Parking is limited; leave ample room for turnarounds. Pick up a key to the gate at the Prospect Ranger District before arrival.
