Water begins damaging Wood Road. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 11:30 AM PDT Saturday the stage was 20.7 feet. - Bankfull stage is 19.5 feet. - Forecast...Stehekin River will fall below flood stage late tonight, dropping to 20.2 feet by Monday afternoon. Situated at 2,700 feet elevation in Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, Chatter Creek Group Site offers a serene wooded setting at the confluence of Icicle Creek and Chatter Creek. The single reservable group site can host up to 45 people with a maximum of 12 vehicles. The gravel back-in driveway is 200 feet long and accommodates trailers and RVs up to 22 feet in length. Amenities include a covered picnic table, group campfire ring, potable water from a handpump for filling containers, and an accessible vault toilet. The campground is well-positioned for outdoor recreation. The Icicle Gorge Loop Trail, with easy grades along both sides of Icicle Creek, begins nearby. For a more challenging hike, the Chatter Creek Trail offers steep terrain through thick underbrush. Anglers can fish for trout in Chatter Creek. In winter, the Wenatchee Ranger District provides access to skiing, snowmobiling, and tubing at nearby Sno-Parks. The Bavarian-themed town of Leavenworth is approximately 16 miles east via Icicle Road, offering dining, shopping, and services. Note that water is provided via handpump for filling portable containers only; do not attach RV hoses to the water system.
Directions
From Leavenworth, head southwest on US-2 W for 0.8 mile. Turn left onto Icicle Road and follow it approximately 16 miles. The campground will be on the right, at the confluence of Icicle Creek and Chatter Creek.
