About
Tahkenitch Landing Campground occupies a scenic position on the eastern shore of Tahkenitch Lake within the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. The 15-site campground is divided between lakeside tent/small camper sites (sites 1-8, which have no turnarounds) and larger uphill sites that can accommodate RVs. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. Vault toilets are available, but no potable water exists on site. The 2,118-acre lake is the main attraction, welcoming boaters, swimmers, and anglers targeting cutthroat trout, steelhead, largemouth bass, and yellow perch. A boat ramp provides easy lake access. Wildlife watching is popular, with portions of the nearby estuary protected as nesting habitat for the snowy plover. Hikers can cross Highway 101 to access the Tahkenitch Dunes National Recreation Trail, which winds through coastal conifer forest, crosses open sand dunes, and reaches the Pacific Ocean. South Jetty OHV trails are nearby for off-road enthusiasts.
