About
Siltcoos Sand Camping is located within the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, featuring the largest expanse of coastal sand dunes in North America. This primitive camping area offers sites directly on the sand, accessible only by 4x4 vehicles via the Driftwood OHV Trail or Incinerator OHV Trail. Standard sites accommodate up to 20 people and five vehicles, while group sites hold up to 40 people and ten vehicles. This is a fully primitive camping experience with no developed amenities. Campers must bring their own water, portable toilets, and fire pans. All vehicles and tents must remain within 150 feet of the campsite marker. Off-road vehicle riding is the primary attraction, with miles of designated trails and a large open riding zone to the north of Siltcoos Beach Road. The dunefield features wind-sculpted sand dunes towering hundreds of feet above sea level, interspersed with coastal forest. Nearby, the Stagecoach Hiking Trailhead provides access to non-motorized trails including the accessible Lagoon Trail and Waxmyrtle Trail, which follows the Siltcoos River to the beach. Beach access in the Snowy Plover nesting area is restricted from March 15 through September 15.
