About

Lagoon Campground is located within the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, about 7 miles south of Florence along the Siltcoos Beach Access Road. At an elevation of 100 feet, the campground occupies a scenic setting among shore pine and huckleberry vegetation bordering Siltcoos Lagoon and the Siltcoos River. The area is known for its wind-sculpted sand dunes that tower up to 500 feet above sea level. The campground offers 40 standard nonelectric sites with paved parking aprons, picnic tables, and fire rings with grills. Facilities include flush toilets and drinking water from a pressurized system. Wildlife is abundant, with resident beavers, nutrias, ducks, herons, and bitterns attracting photographers and nature enthusiasts. Mosquitoes can be abundant from April through August due to the proximity to lakes and wetlands. Recreation options include the accessible Lagoon Loop Trail, a boardwalk circuit providing excellent wetland wildlife viewing. The nearby 1.3-mile Waxmyrtle Trail offers interpretive displays and views of the lower Siltcoos estuary and Pacific Ocean. The Stagecoach Trailhead is a quarter-mile west, and Chief Tsiltcoos Trail is also accessible. Anglers can pursue rainbow trout in the lagoon during winter and spring, while Siltcoos Lake offers bass, steelhead, cutthroat trout, yellow perch, and bluegill.
