About
Tyee Campground occupies a scenic location on the Siltcoos River where it flows from 3,164-acre Siltcoos Lake toward the Pacific Ocean. The small 14-site campground offers two distinct settings: some sites are tucked into coastal shrubbery for privacy, while others sit in open meadow with direct river views. A paved boat ramp makes this a popular spot for kayakers and canoeists exploring the river system. The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area features the largest coastal dune system in North America, and hikers can access expansive beaches and dune formations from nearby trailheads. Wildlife includes Roosevelt elk, bald eagles, and various shorebirds and waterfowl. Anglers fish for coho salmon from the riverbank. Facilities include vault toilets, drinking water from a hand pump, and paved parking aprons. Each campsite has a fire ring with attached grill and a picnic table. No hookups are available. The nearest dump station is 4 miles away at Honeyman State Park. Be prepared for high mosquito activity from April through August.
Directions
From Florence, OR, travel south on Highway 101 for 6 miles to Pacific Avenue. Turn left onto Pacific Avenue and travel approximately 100 feet. The campground entrance is on the right (south) side of Pacific Avenue.
