About

Yellowstone Group Campground lies along its pretty namesake river on the southern slope of the Uinta Mountains in Ashley National Forest. The campground sits at 7,700 feet elevation, surrounded by a forest of aspen, maple, and Ponderosa pine. Wildlife and summer wildflowers are abundant in the area. The group site accommodates up to 40 people with four vehicles and four camp trailers or RV units (max 25 feet). Several first-come, first-served single sites are also available. Facilities include vault toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, and campfire rings with grills. The gravel roads and back-in parking spurs can be rough in places. Recreation opportunities abound with the Yellowstone River offering fishing for rainbow, brown, brook, and cutthroat trout. The Yellowstone ATV Trail System is conveniently close, featuring over 50 miles of trail on the Petty Mountain and Dry Gulch Loops. Hiking and biking are also permitted on these trails. Nearby Yellowstone Canyon provides additional scenery, first-come first-served campgrounds, a small reservoir, and trailheads accessing the High Uintas Wilderness.
