* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. * AFFECTED AREA...In Oregon, Fire Weather zones 620, 621, 622, and 623, including Medford, Grants Pass, Ashland, Cave Junction, Eagle Point, Shady Cove, and the Siskiyous and southern Oregon Cascades. * WIND...Northwest 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph in the afternoons, becoming east to northeast overnight. * HUMIDITY...Minimum humidity 8 to 15 percent, with poor recoveries as low as 20 percent. * ADDITIONAL INFORMATION...Critical fire weather conditions will be more prevalent in low-lying areas in the afternoon and evening due to elevated breezes and minimum RHs. About
Aspen Point Campground occupies a prime lakefront location on the northeast shore of Lake of the Woods within the Fremont-Winema National Forest in southern Oregon. The campground offers 58 sites arranged in a single loop: 50 standard RV sites, 7 tent-only sites, 8 double sites, and 1 group site accommodating up to 100 guests. A camp host is on-site during the operating season. The campground provides flush toilets maintained from May through October, drinking water via hand pump, fire rings, and picnic tables with durable aggregate surfacing to minimize dust. Sites accommodate vehicles up to 44 feet with back-in access. No hookups are available. The adjacent day use area features a boat launch, docks, and parking, plus access to the High Lakes Trail connecting to Fish Lake. Recreation opportunities abound with motorized and non-motorized boating, fishing for rainbow trout, brown trout, kokanee salmon, bass, and perch. Swimming, kayaking, and canoeing are popular warm-weather activities. The nearby Sky Lakes Wilderness and Crater Lake National Park provide additional hiking destinations.
Directions
From Klamath Falls: Take Oregon Highway 140 west towards Medford for approximately 32 miles, turn left onto Forest Service Road 3704, travel 0.7 miles to the campground on the right. From Medford: Take Highway 140 east for approximately 36 miles, turn right onto Forest Service Road 3704, travel 0.7 miles to the campground.
