Johnson Creek

Open — Open year-round with reservations available. During winter months, individual water hookups are shut off after November; one frost-free hydrant is available for filling water tanks. Some sites close during the off season; the park is fully open starting April 1. Entrance gates open 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

About

Johnson Creek Campground is located on Lake Texoma in Oklahoma's Cross Timbers Region, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The campground features 54 paved campsites with electrical and water hookups, with several sites offering covered picnic tables. Post and blackjack oaks forest the rolling hills surrounding the campground, where deer, turkeys, bobcats, hawks, waterfowl and songbirds are abundant. Lake Texoma is known as the 'Striper Capital of the World,' one of the few reservoirs in the nation where striped bass reproduce naturally. The lake offers excellent fishing opportunities for largemouth and smallmouth bass, white bass, hybrid striped bass, white crappie, black crappie, channel catfish and blue catfish. Boating, swimming, water skiing, hunting, and birding are popular activities on this large reservoir. The campground provides flush and vault toilets, showers, drinking water, a boat ramp, dock, and dump station. The scenic Cross Timbers hiking trail winds for 14 miles above the lake on rocky ledges and through blackjack woodland. Forty miles of equestrian trails surround the lake as well. A marina and general store are located within one mile of the campground.
