Forest Order - Recreation Sites, Roads, and Trails

The net effect of this order is to reopen Kinnikinnick Campground and Florence Lake Picnic Area (i.e removing them from Exabit A of the Forest Recreation Closure list).

About

Forks Campground occupies a scenic hillside position overlooking Bass Lake within Sierra National Forest's Bass Lake Ranger District. At 3,400 feet elevation, the campground is sheltered beneath a canopy of cedar, ponderosa pine, and oak trees. The 26 sites include both standard and tent-only configurations, with several offering limited views of Bass Lake while others nestle adjacent to the creek. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, pedestal grill, stone fire ring, and paved parking spur. The campground provides flush toilets, including ADA-accessible facilities, and drinking water. An on-site host and security patrol serve the camp. Note that parking spurs cannot accommodate boat trailers. Bass Lake offers excellent recreation opportunities including swimming, motorized and non-motorized boating, water skiing, and fishing for bass, trout, bluegill, and catfish. The Goat Mountain Trail (2.6 miles) departs directly from the campground, with additional trails nearby including Willow Creek, Spring Cove, and the Way-of-the-Mono Interpretive Trail. Yosemite National Park's entrance lies approximately 24 miles away.
