Sweetwater Campground

Sweetwater Campground sits on the banks of Allatoona Lake in the rolling green hills of northern Georgia, providing easy access to water-based recreation just 50 miles from Atlanta. The campground offers over 150 reservable sites ranging from standard electric sites for RVs and trailers to tent-only non-electric sites, plus two group camping areas. Lakefront sites provide sweeping views of the 12,000-acre reservoir. The developed facility includes flush toilets, hot showers, potable water, and dump stations. Each site features a fire ring and picnic table. A swimming beach and fishing dock are conveniently located within the campground. The lake is annually restocked with bass, crappie, bream, and catfish. Nearby attractions include Red Top Mountain State Park with 15+ miles of hiking trails, the Tellus Science Museum, Etowah Indian Mounds, and eight marinas offering boat rentals. The Allatoona Lake Visitor Center features exhibits on the area's history from Native American times through the Civil War.

Directions

From I-75 take exit 290 and head east on Highway 20 toward Canton/Rome. After approximately 12 miles turn right onto Fields Chapel Road and follow for 2 miles into the campground. From I-575 take exit 16. Follow Highway 20 west toward Cartersville, after 5 miles turn left on Fields Chapel Road and follow for 2 miles into the campground.
