Special Weather Statement issued March 30 at 3:28PM CDT by NWS Little Rock AR

March 30th, 3:28 PM — 7:00 PM

Widespread elevated fire danger is anticipated between Tuesday morning and Tuesday evening (9 AM CDT through 7 PM CDT on Tuesday). Sustained winds between 5 to 15 mph in tandem with increased wind gusts, which are expected to be between 20 to 30 mph with isolated values in excess of 35+ mph in the higher elevations of the Boston and Ouachita Mountains along with continued very dry fuels across the region are the main concerns. While minimum RH values on Tuesday afternoon will range from 25-45% across the region and remain above critical values, the continued very dry conditions and very dry fuels coupled with increased sustained winds and wind gusts, especially on Tuesday afternoon will make it possible for wildfires to ignite and spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. If a wildfire is observed, report it by dialing 911 or by contacting the Arkansas Department of Agriculture at (800) 468-8834.

About

Shoal Bay campground is situated on the scenic Shoal Bay arm of Lake Dardanelle, a 40,000-acre reservoir on the Arkansas River between the Ozark and Ouachita National Forests. The campground features 45 reservable campsites spread across multiple loops, with most sites offering electric hookups. The shaded setting beneath mature trees provides a comfortable camping environment during the spring, summer, and fall months. Two large group picnic shelters are available for reservation, making this an ideal location for family gatherings or group events. Lake Dardanelle's 315 miles of shoreline offer extensive opportunities for water-based recreation. The on-site boat ramp provides direct lake access for boaters and anglers. The lake is renowned for its fishing, with healthy populations of white bass, largemouth bass, bream, crappie, and large catfish. The campground also features a swimming area, playground, and full amenities including hot showers, flush toilets, and a dump station. The Bridge Rock Trail winds along a rugged slope overlooking the narrows of Shoal Creek, offering excellent hiking opportunities. Nearby, the Dardanelle Visitor Center showcases the river valley's history from early Native Americans to present day, while the Bona Dea Trails and Sanctuary provides 6 miles of trails through 86 acres of wetlands and low woods.
