About

Covered Bridge Campground sits in an old-growth hardwood forest along one of New Hampshire's most scenic drives, the Kancamagus Highway. Located just 6 miles west of Conway, this 49-site campground provides direct access to the Swift River and serves as an excellent base for exploring White Mountain National Forest. The campground is organized into two loops and offers both standard and tent-only sites. The historic Albany Covered Bridge, built in 1858, marks the entrance to the campground but has a 7'9" height restriction; taller vehicles must use an alternate route via Passaconaway Road. The Swift River flows nearby, offering wade fishing for brook trout during summer months. The 3-mile Boulder Loop Trail and a 0.5-mile nature trail are accessible directly from the campground. The Kancamagus Scenic Byway offers some of the finest fall foliage viewing in New England, making this campground extremely popular during autumn. Wildlife including moose, white-tailed deer, and black bear inhabit the surrounding forest, which is also home to nearly 200 bird species including the rare Bicknell's Thrush. Conway and North Conway are nearby for supplies and amenities, while Mount Washington and the Presidential Range are within an hour's drive.

Directions

From Conway, take Kancamagus Highway (Route 112) west for 6 miles, then turn onto Dugway Road into the campground. Vehicles 7'9" or taller cannot pass through the covered bridge and must use alternate route: From Conway Village traffic light, go north on Washington Street which becomes West Side Road. After 1 mile, turn west on Passaconaway Road and follow for 5 miles to the campground.
