* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...A portion of Utah, including the following areas, Central Mountains, Eastern Juab/Millard Counties, Bryce Canyon Country, Capitol Reef National Park and Vicinity, South Central Utah, Southern Mountains, Upper Sevier River Valleys, Lower Washington County, Southwest Utah and Zion National Park. This watch includes recent burn scars such as Forsyth, Cottonwood, Widemouth 2, France Canyon, Monroe Canyon, and Silver King. * WHEN...Through Friday morning. This watch may be extended as needed further into Friday night. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, dry washes, slot canyons, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations such as slickrock areas and recent burn scars. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. Problematic burn scars, such as the recent Cottonwood burn scar, may see flash flooding this afternoon. About
Deer Haven Campground is a peaceful retreat at 8,900 feet elevation in Dixie National Forest, surrounded by aspen and pine trees with abundant summer wildflowers. The campground provides 10 single sites on a first-come-first-served basis and a reservable group area that can host family reunions, youth groups, and other gatherings of up to 200 people. Facilities include flush and vault toilets, with potable water piped from a spring available from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. This is a pack-it-out facility with no trash service, and campers should conserve the limited water supply. OHV/ATV use is prohibited within the campground. The location offers excellent recreation access. Cedar Breaks National Monument is just 11 miles away, featuring hiking trails and breathtaking scenery. The 34-mile Virgin River Rim Trail passes near the campground and is open to hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Navajo Lake and Duck Lake are within 30 minutes for boating, canoeing, and fishing.
Directions
From Cedar City, Utah, take Highway 14 east for 16 miles. Turn south on Webster Flat Road and travel 3 miles to the campground.
