About

Callville Bay Campground is a year-round desert oasis located along the northern edge of the Boulder Basin of Lake Mead, just minutes from Las Vegas. Operated by the National Park Service, the campground features paved sites that accommodate both tents and RVs, with lush vegetation including palm trees, mature cottonwood trees, oleanders, and native plants providing shade and privacy at most sites. Each site includes picnic tables and fire pits or grills, while restrooms and water spigots are distributed throughout the campground. The location offers easy access to both land and water recreation. The Callville Summit Trail, a 2.7-mile moderate hike, begins across from the campground and climbs to spectacular views of Lake Mead, Fortification Hill, the Hemenway Valley, and the River Mountains. A shaded picnic area near the campground features interpretive panels explaining the area's history. The Callville Bay Resort is within walking distance and provides a restaurant, lounge, café, and store. At the marina, visitors can rent boats, launch their own watercraft, or explore secluded coves throughout the backcountry. Wildlife in the area includes numerous bird and lizard species, antelope squirrels, and occasional coyotes. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 100°F from June through August, while winter months can see freezing temperatures, making spring and fall ideal for visits. The area receives only about 4 inches of rain annually.

Directions

From Las Vegas, take Lake Mead Parkway east to the park entrance. Turn left onto Northshore Road and follow for about 11 miles. Turn right toward Callville Bay. After about four miles, the campground is on the right.
