Yellow Pine Campground is located in the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest near Laramie, Wyoming, offering 19 campsites arranged in a single loop among a beautiful stand of mixed conifers and aspen. The campground accommodates tents, trailers, and RVs on a first-come, first-served basis, with each site featuring a picnic table, campfire ring, and pedestal grill. Horse corrals are available outside the campground for equestrian visitors, though horses are not permitted within the campground loop. The campground serves as a gateway to the Tie City trail system, a challenging network of mountain bike trails that transforms into cross-country skiing routes during winter months. Anglers can find brook trout fishing in the South Fork of Lodgepole Creek, which flows near the campground. The nearby Vedauwoo Recreation Area offers spectacular granite rock formations popular with rock climbers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts. The surrounding landscape features diverse wildlife including black bear, elk, mule deer, moose, and bobcat. The heavily wooded setting provides a scenic mountain retreat while remaining easily accessible from Laramie via Interstate 80 and Happy Jack Road.
Directions
From Laramie, take I-80 east 9.5 miles to exit 323 for WY 210. Turn left onto WY 210/Happy Jack Road and continue 0.1 miles to the Happy Jack Recreation Area sign. Turn left staying on WY 210 for 2.1 miles to another Happy Jack Recreation Area sign at FR 719. Turn right onto FR 719 and continue 1.1 miles to a Y intersection. Bear left and go 0.4 miles to the campground.
