About

Yellow Pine Campground sits at approximately 8,400 feet elevation in the Happy Jack Recreation Area of the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, about 12 miles east of Laramie, Wyoming. The 19-site single-loop campground is nestled among a stand of lodgepole pine, aspen, spruce, and fir, providing a shaded mountain retreat. The campground serves as a trailhead for the Tie City trail system, which offers challenging terrain for mountain bikers in summer and cross-country skiers in winter. Horse corrals are provided outside the campground for equestrian users, though horses are not permitted inside the camping loop. Brook trout fishing is available in the South Fork of Lodgepole Creek, which runs near the adjacent Tie City Campground. Vedauwoo Recreation Area, known for its spectacular granite rock formations popular with rock climbers and hikers, is a short drive away. The campground has vault toilets but no potable water, so campers should bring their own supply. Sites accommodate tents, trailers up to 32 feet, and RVs, with a limit of 8 people and 2 vehicles per site.
