About
The Vedauwoo Gazebo provides a covered picnic area in one of Wyoming's most iconic outdoor recreation destinations. Located just 15 miles east of Laramie within the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, the gazebo sits at an elevation of 8,200 feet among the dramatic Sherman granite formations that define Vedauwoo. The facility can accommodate up to 30 guests and includes a covered shelter, grills, and designated parking for 4 vehicles. Vault toilets are available on-site, and drinking water may be accessible from a hand pump in the nearby campground.
Vedauwoo is renowned for its unique rock formations, towering granite boulders and slabs that create a stunning backdrop for gatherings and events. The name "Vedauwoo" comes from an Arapaho word meaning "Earth Born," reflecting the spiritual significance of these ancient rock formations. The area is exceptionally popular with rock climbers, hikers, and mountain bikers who come to explore the extensive trail systems and challenging climbing routes. The landscape features lodgepole pine, aspen, and various conifers, with vibrant wildflowers in warmer months. Wildlife including black bear, elk, mule deer, moose, and bobcat inhabit the surrounding national forest lands, making this a prime location for nature observation and photography.
