About

Pole Creek Dispersed Campground sits in the Pole Mountain area of Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, managed by the Laramie Ranger District. This walk-in dispersed camping area provides a primitive, backcountry-style experience with access to mountain biking, hiking, and fishing opportunities in the surrounding forest. The campground is located north of Interstate 80 in Albany County, Wyoming, accessible via Happy Jack Road (WY 210) and Forest Road 719. While much of the original infrastructure has become overgrown over time, the site remains accessible for dispersed camping. Visitors should come prepared for a self-sufficient experience with no developed amenities. The Pole Mountain area connects to an extensive trail network popular with mountain bikers in summer and cross-country skiers in winter. The surrounding landscape features granite outcrops, pine forests, and meadows typical of the Laramie Range.
