About

Brick House Campground sits in the heart of the Enoree Ranger District within the Francis Marion and Sumter National Forests in Newberry County, South Carolina. The campground features 21 primitive campsites arranged in a single loop through a mixed pine-hardwood forest at roughly 550 feet elevation. Each site includes a fire ring, picnic table, and lantern post. Two centrally located double vault toilet buildings serve the campground. Campers must bring their own water as none is available on site. The campground is popular with equestrians, as horses are permitted and can be highlined behind designated white-banded trees or kept in portable corrals. The adjacent Buncombe Horse Trail offers 30 miles of loops for horseback riding, hiking, and mountain biking. The 24-mile Enoree OHV Trail is a 10-minute drive north and accommodates ATVs, UTVs, and dirt bikes 50 inches wide or less. The surrounding national forest provides excellent hunting opportunities for whitetail deer and wild turkey. Wild azaleas dot old homesites, and dogwoods and wildflowers brighten the landscape. The area experiences long hot summers and mild winters, making it suitable for year-round camping.

Directions

From I-26, take exit 66 (Joanna/Whitmire). Travel toward Whitmire approximately 3.5 miles on SC Route 66. Turn right onto Brick House Road (FS Road 358) and drive 0.3 miles to the campground. The Buncombe Trailhead will be on your left before reaching the campground.
