About
Woodland Valley Campground occupies a scenic valley at the foot of Slide Mountain, the Catskills' tallest peak at 4,180 feet. Surrounded by Panther, Cornell, and Wittenberg Mountains, the campground provides direct access to some of the region's most challenging and rewarding hiking. The Slide-Wittenberg Trail departs from the campground, connecting hikers to Catskill high peaks and the famous Devil's Path. The campground features approximately 67 wooded tent and trailer sites organized in loops, with several sites positioned along Woodland Valley Stream. Facilities include flush toilets, hot showers, a trailer dump station, and a recycling center. Fires are permitted in provided fireplaces using only dead and down wood. Bear activity is common; proper food storage is required. Nearby Phoenicia offers tubing on the Esopus Creek, renowned trout fishing, scenic train rides on the Catskill Mountain Railroad, shops, and restaurants. The campground operates seasonally from mid-May through mid-October. Reservations are available through ReserveAmerica up to nine months in advance.
