William O'Brien State Park's camper cabins provide a comfortable middle-ground between tent camping and full-service lodging. Located in the park's campground area near the scenic St. Croix River, these 12x16-foot wooden cabins sleep five to six people on wooden bunkbeds with mattresses. Each cabin includes an interior table with benches, and most feature heating, electricity, and a screened porch for bug-free relaxation. Outdoor amenities at each cabin include a dedicated fire ring with cooking grate and a picnic table. No cooking is permitted inside the cabins except for crockpots and coffeepots, so plan on preparing meals outside or bringing no-cook food options. The cabins lack indoor plumbing, but seasonal restrooms with flush toilets and showers are available in the nearby campground, along with drinking water. Vault toilets remain accessible year-round. The park sits about an hour north of the Twin Cities along the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. Visitors can explore miles of hiking trails through hardwood forests, savannas, and river bottomlands. A visitor center offers interpretive displays about local wildlife and ecosystems. Note that pets are not permitted in the camper cabins.
