William O Brien State Park Group Campground

Open

The group campground is open for the season and accepting reservations. The Riverside Group Camp reopened in May 2025 following extensive park renovations. Group camps typically operate mid-May through October.

About

The Riverside Group Camp at William O'Brien State Park provides an ideal setting for family reunions, Scout troops, and other organized groups seeking rustic camping along the scenic St. Croix River. Located approximately one hour north of the Twin Cities near Marine on St. Croix, this group campground accommodates up to 50 campers in a natural riverside setting. Group campsites include picnic tables, fire rings with grills, water access, and vault toilets. As a primitive group camping area, modern shower facilities are not provided at the group camp itself. The park underwent extensive accessibility improvements completed in May 2025, making William O'Brien the first Minnesota state park to receive whole-park accessibility upgrades. Reservations can be made up to 120 days in advance online or by calling the DNR reservation center. The group campground typically operates from mid-May through October. Only approved firewood is permitted, and pets must be leashed and attended at all times.
