About

Willow Oak Campground sits on the shores of Toledo Bend Reservoir in Sabine National Forest, approximately 11 miles south of Hemphill, Texas. This primitive tent camping area is owned by the USFS and operated by the Sabine River Authority of Texas. The campground offers 10 designated tent sites, each equipped with a tent platform, picnic table, cooking grill, and lantern post, making it ideal for tent campers seeking a simple lakeside experience. The campground provides basic amenities including water hydrants near the camping sites, trash receptacles, and portable toilet facilities. A boat ramp at the recreation area offers year-round access to the massive 185,000-acre Toledo Bend Reservoir, providing excellent opportunities for fishing and boating. Extended camping of up to 28 days is permitted at Willow Oak Recreation Area, making it suitable for longer stays. The area is surrounded by mixed pine and hardwood forests characteristic of the East Texas Piney Woods region.
