The Wilderness section (Big Slough) of the 4C trail is impassable due to flood damage. Visitors may encounter large, downed trees, washed-out trail markers, making the trail difficult to navigate.

About
Indian Mounds Recreation Area occupies a scenic location on the 185,000-acre Toledo Bend Reservoir within Sabine National Forest in East Texas. The campground serves as an alternative to wilderness camping while providing access to the adjacent 12,369-acre Indian Mounds Wilderness Area. Managed by the Sabine River Authority of Texas under special use permit with the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas, this developed site offers 37 campsites for travel trailers or tents. Each campsite includes a picnic table and campfire ring. The recreation area features two boat ramps for water access and portable toilet facilities. The area offers year-round camping, fishing, and boating opportunities. Visitors can explore the historic Indian mounds that give the area its name, hunt waterfowl on the reservoir, or pursue deer and squirrel outside the campground boundaries. The site is located in the heart of the Pineywoods region, providing a forested lakeside camping experience. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Fees are $4 per campsite per night and $2 per vehicle per day. Campers should note that potable water is not available on-site and must bring their own supply. Pets are allowed but must be leashed (maximum 6 feet) or otherwise under physical control.

Follow Highway 83 east from Hemphill for 8 miles; turn right (south) on FM 3382 for 3.5 miles; turn left onto Forest Service Road 130 to entrance.
