About

Lakeview Campground is located on the shores of Toledo Bend Reservoir within Sabine National Forest in the pineywoods of east Texas. Operated and maintained by the Sabine River Authority of Texas under a special use permit with the USFS, this small campground offers 10 basic campsites surrounded by the reservoir on three sides, providing unobstructed lake views year-round. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, grill, lantern post, tent pad, and garbage can. Potable water is available from two centrally located hydrants within walking distance of all sites, and portable toilet facilities are provided. The campground can accommodate RVs up to 24 feet but does not offer electric hookups or other utility connections. Sites are first-come, first-served with low overnight fees. Lakeview serves as the eastern trailhead for the Trail Between the Lakes, a 28-mile scenic hiking trail that extends west through Sabine National Forest to Highway 96 near Sam Rayburn Reservoir. The location on Toledo Bend Reservoir offers excellent opportunities for fishing, with the lake known nationally for bass fishing. The area provides a rustic camping experience in the east Texas forest with convenient access to water recreation and backcountry hiking.
