About
Fourth of July Campground is a well-maintained USFS campground located on Forest Service Road 73 (the Pioneer Mountains Scenic Byway) in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. The campground sits at an elevation of approximately 7,000 feet in an open, sunny meadow setting with views of the surrounding Pioneer Mountains. Fourth of July Creek runs nearby, offering a peaceful atmosphere for camping. The campground has six campsites with compacted gravel surfaces and paved interior access trails. Each site is equipped with a fire ring, picnic table, and bear box for food storage. Two ADA-accessible vault toilets serve the campground, and potable water is available from a hand pump. The maximum recommended trailer length is 30 feet. There is no garbage service, so campers must pack out all trash. This is a primitive campground with no hookups, cell service, or other modern amenities. Pets are permitted on leash. The 16-day stay limit applies. The campground provides access to hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing opportunities in the surrounding national forest.
