About
Wildhorse Equestrian Camp is one of the few campgrounds in Southern California specifically equipped for horse camping, situated high in the San Bernardino National Forest at approximately 7,000 feet elevation. The campground is exclusively for campers with horses and offers 8 single-family sites and 3 double-family sites suitable for tents and RVs. The facility includes 30 individual 12x12-foot horse corrals, horse watering stations, mounting areas for visitors needing assistance, and hitching racks. All campsites are equipped with picnic tables and fire rings with grills. Modern amenities include accessible flush toilets, hot showers, and potable water. The campground also features a group fire ring and horseshoe game area. Tall pine trees provide shade throughout the rocky, steep terrain that surrounds the camp. The location provides strategic access to extensive trail systems including the famed Santa Ana River Trail, which offers miles of scenic mountain views suitable for hikers, bikers, and equestrians. Other nearby trails include Fish Creek Meadow, Mission Creek, Dry Lake, and South Fork. Riders can access portions of the Pacific Crest Trail from connecting routes. The terrain accommodates both beginner and intermediate riders, with typical loop rides lasting about an hour through the surrounding meadows and wilderness areas. Big Bear Lake is located approximately 20 miles away.
