About

Coon Creek Group Campground is located at 8,000 feet elevation in the pine-covered mountains of San Bernardino National Forest. The unique group campground is home to three historic cabins and offers stunning views into the Coachella Valley on clear days. The site accommodates up to 25 people and 10 vehicles on a gravel parking spur suitable for tents and RVs without hookups. The campground is adjacent to a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail, a famous hike spanning more than 2,600 miles from Canada to Mexico. The trail offers multiple entry and exit points, making it ideal for short nature walks or day hikes. The area provides access to mountain stream fishing, bird and wildlife viewing, and the vast San Gorgonio Wilderness with its variety of trailheads. Mature pine trees dot the rocky terrain, though they provide limited shade. The campground features multiple picnic tables, a group campfire circle, grills, and vault toilets. The historic cabins have walls and roofs but no doors or windows, and camping inside them is prohibited. Located less than 20 miles from Big Bear Lake, the campground offers proximity to additional water recreation, golf, shopping, and dining options.
