Wildhorse Campground
Open year-round, first-come first-served. Access may be blocked by snow during winter months. No current alerts or closures. Fire danger is low.
About
Wildhorse Campground sits at 7,500 feet elevation on Wildhorse Lake, surrounded by a scenic riparian meadow approximately 25 miles southwest of Elk City, Idaho. The six primitive campsites provide direct access to the Gospel Hump Wilderness, with one trail leading to Tenmile Meadows and another extending deep into the wilderness to Sugarloaf Butte. The campground is free and operates on a first-come, first-served basis year-round, though snow typically makes access impossible during winter months. Sites include picnic tables and vault toilets, but campers must bring all drinking water and pack out all trash. The remote location and high elevation access road make this campground unsuitable for trailers or large RVs. Recreation opportunities include lake fishing, hiking into the wilderness, and scenic viewing. During winter, the area is popular for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing when accessible. Stock and pack animals are prohibited at this campground.

Turn right on Road #233I and continue 2.5 miles to the campground. Approximately 25 miles SW of Elk City, Idaho.
